17.mai er Nasjonal –dagen i Norge

May 17th, is Norway's National Day which is celebrated all across
the nation, from all levels of community, each community shows
parades, bands, flags and they was singing national anthem.

I met our contact person Cathrine in Oslo with my co-youth delegate.
We took the Oslo's main street, Karl Johan’s gate and she started
to explain us about what was going on that time. On that date
in 1814 Norway adopted the new Constitution.

People wearied different costumes so she told us each part of Norway
has the own color of traditional dress and we were observed it on the way.
The President of Parliament was also standing out side to the parliament
balcony and great the people had march parade and continue to the Loyal
Palace where the king and his family standing on the front balcony, waving
 to the crowd.

It was good to see the children having parade, and was so interesting
to see many women doing parade, bands and hands up flags.

I had a memorial picture with people dressing traditional dress so this will
remind me the Special day in Norway.

International day of Red Cross

On 7th May, around midday a lot of people tourist, Red Cross stuff, volunteers, children from school and student gathered in Oslo Opera House to join the word’s largest Human Cross.

Me with colleagues from Akershus

Secretary General talked about the Red Cross activities and the 8th of May Campaign.
On 8th May, "Being in Action" I and my co-youth delegate we joined Oppegård youth group for door to door Campaign.
The aim of the Youth red Cross was to raise funds to help the Vestby Asylum centre activities and for the victims of the recent earthquake in Haiti, which devastated the country and left thousands dead and many more without basic provisions or homes.

We were also hanging out the brochures to sensitize and explain people about campaign of 8th of May 2010.
I was happy to participate in this humanitarian activity and always appreciate the Oppegård local branch because they are very active more than other local group in Akershus District so this was motivated us to work together many times.
The youth like to be in action and make the asylum people feel integrated in the Society.

Have you heard about Russ?

Russ in Norway

This is a program for the teenagers are going to finish the high school.
Russ Program they have to do it in three weeks before they start the
high school final exams. This part of student life means: being cool,
having funny, drinking lots of alcohol, smoking, stay out for longtime,
having sex and other crazy things.

cool Girls and cool Boys.

They dress different colors depends of what they are studying: before
they used many different colors but this year they had only two like blue
for higher education in economics and management, Red for courses
that are geared towards higher education. The Russ in Red cloths was so many
than the one in Blue.

The 16th May is the day before they end Russ program so this day is the
one most of them are doing a lot of funny things because they could not
sleep so everyone is allowed to do all crazy (I guess they said bye to the
crazy stuff so they become more serious for the exams and done it well).

They had also personal Russ card: Russ card where they wrote names,
school and other things they like to tell people because they gave those
cards to the people on the way anyone asks for them.but most of them
are small children it makes them happy to collect more of Russ cards.
Let me show you some of the Russ card.

It was amazing to see how many of them was looking on the National day;
they were so tired with duty cloths. After getting all information about Russ
I found it necessary to let the young student experience all the different kind
of life so that will help them to work hard and gain a better future.
